Privacy policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
This policy explains what we collect when you use this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We have written it to describe what this site actually does rather than in general terms.
Who we are
Silk Road Tours Egypt is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at info@silkroadegypt.com or on +20 100 145 1383.
What we collect
When you ask for a quote or place an order. Your name, email address, telephone number, the country you are travelling from, whether you are visiting Egypt or living here, your travel dates and group size, and anything you choose to write in the notes field. This is the information we need in order to reply to you and to arrange what you have asked for.
We do not create an account for you. There is no password and no login on this site. Your details are attached to your order and nothing else.
Technical information. Our hosting and security systems record the IP address a request came from, along with standard log data, in order to keep the site available and to limit abuse of our enquiry and order forms.
Payment details. Card and bank details are not collected or stored by this website. Where online payment is offered it is handled by a payment provider, and we receive only the outcome of the payment and a reference for it.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets two cookies, both of which exist to make the site work rather than to track you:
- a language cookie, remembering which of our seven site languages you chose
- a currency cookie, remembering which currency you asked prices to be shown in
Your cart is kept in your browser's local storage on your own device. It stays there until you complete an order or clear it, and it is not readable by us until you submit it.
We do not use advertising cookies and we do not share your browsing with advertising networks. If we introduce website analytics, we will use a privacy-respecting service that does not build a profile of you across other sites, and we will update this policy before doing so.
Why we are allowed to hold it
We process your details in order to take steps you have asked for and to perform the arrangements we agree with you; to meet our legal and accounting obligations; and for our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and answering enquiries.
Who else sees it
We share your details only where it is needed to deliver what you booked:
- the hotels, airlines, transport operators and local suppliers who provide the parts of your trip
- authorities where a visa, permit or Hajj and Umrah arrangement requires it
- our email delivery, hosting and file storage providers, who process data on our instructions
- our payment provider, where you pay online
- our professional advisers and the authorities, where the law requires it
We do not sell your personal data.
Where it is held
Our website and database are hosted with providers who may store data outside Egypt, including within the European Union and the United States. Where your trip requires it, your details are shared with suppliers and authorities in the country you are travelling to.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for up to two years so that we can pick up a conversation where it left off. Booking, payment and accounting records are kept for as long as Egyptian tax and commercial law requires, currently five years from the end of the financial year concerned.
Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it, and object to particular uses of it. Write to info@silkroadegypt.com and we will respond.
Security
We hold your details on access-controlled systems and transmit them over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information and to limit who can see it.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect the details of a child except as part of a family booking made by an adult.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date shown on this page is when it last changed.
